Description
Pair of regular 4″ x 4″ butt / mortise hinges – With Security Pin, without Ball Bearings. Hinges connect the door / window to the door / window frame, allowing them to rotate relative to each other on a fixed axis. These are square edged hinges, which are the most commonly used in Puerto Rico and the US / British Virgin Islands. 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ butt hinges are used for doors that have a 1 3/8″ thickness (Such as semi-solid and tropical doors). 4″ x 4″ hinges are used for doors / windows that have a 1 3/4″ thickness. Ball bearings on hinges reduce the rotational friction and also support the heavy load of the door or window. Security pins are used for doors or windows that open to the exterior, providing greater security. (Security pins prohibit the removal of the hinge’s pivot cylinder through a small allen screw or prohibit the removal of the door if the pivot cylinder is removed by having pins encrusted to the door / window and door / window frame.)
